1970s Nylon Ruffles and Flounce w 70″ Train
DESCRIPTION: This lovely vintage 1970's wedding dress is so soft and dreamy. The elegant gown features a semi-sheer nylon fabric with a lightweight taffeta lining appearing from the straight-across bustline to the skirt hem. Since the upper bodice and sleeves are semi-sheer, the heavily embroidered appliques and vertical stitching on the upper center of the dress are beautifully contrasted. A narrow nylon ruffle at the neck creates an open, V-shaped, stand-up collar with floral appliques circling the neck and center front. Large garlands of applique also trail over the shoulders and end in V-shaped formations toward the front waist and mid-back at the metal zipper. On the long sleeves, floral appliques extend approximately 11" from the shoulders toward the elbow and again around the wrist edge which is also trimmed with a 2" wide ruffle and snap closure. Another large floral applique adorns the lower center of the skirt that tapers outward from the waist toward the hemline with single flower appliques scattered on the skirt front, back, and semi-cathedral train. The skirt hemline and train are delightfully detailed with a 10" wide flounce that is trimmed at the top and bottom with garlands of single flower applique. For added skirt fullness, the flounce and skirt (between the taffeta and nylon; no scratchy net next to your skin) are lined with a net crinoline. The flattering A-line style of this wonderful gown becomes fabulous as it flares outward toward the hemline. Cinderella, you have met your match!
